About us:

What do we do?

cinéSARNIA screens 11 films of different genres and nationalities during the regular season running from September to April.  Special presentations are held from time to time to engage members of the community.  The membership has risen steadily since its inception in 1995, with a current total of over 600.

We welcome new members.  Anyone wishing to subscribe to the 2018-2019 season may do so by completing the order form available on this website (under the Downloads tab) and mailing it in with a cheque to the address indicated on the form or by dropping it off in person to the people at the theatre desk on any screening night.

Our Community Involvement

As a not-for-profit organization:

  • cinéSARNIA donates $2000.00 for the annual cinéSARNIA Scholarship awarded to a deserving student graduating from any of Lambton County's secondary schools.  The winner of the scholarship must have attended school in the district for a minimum of four semesters, and must pursue post secondary studies with a view to entering a field related to the Arts, preferably film or stage production.

  • cinéSARNIA also donates $1500 for the annual Celebration of Youth (COY) Scholarship operated through the YMCA.

  • When finances permit, cinéSARNIA donates varying amounts to local charitable organizations operating in the Lambton County community.

  • cinéSARNIA regularly donates complimentary seasonal tickets to local charitable organizations to assist in their fund raising events.

Film Description

The final Viceroy of India, Lord Mountbatten, is tasked with overseeing the transition of British India to independence, but meets with conflict as different sides clash in the face of monumental change.

Critical Notes

"Bonnenville's steel-chinned and earnest portrayal of Mountbatten drives the film, matched by Gillian's compassionate presentation of Lady Edwina."
Mark Sommer - Buffalo News

""Viceroy's House" is appropriately somber. It feels like the wheels of history had been put in motion long ago, and a few well-meaning people on all sides aren't enough to stop them.”
Rob Thomas - Capital Times
